4 Best Places to Grab a Drink at Epcot

Epcot is a great place to spend a relaxing day.  It isn’t just all about rides and shows here.

There is definitely not only a great food scene (arguably the best food on properly lives here), but also a good assortment of watering holes and places to find libations of all kinds.

We will be taking a much deeper look at getting your drink on at Epcot in future articles, but for now, we are focusing on the  best full service or spirit-equipped bars.  You can pick up beer and wine throughout the park, but if you prefer something more complex, you need to know where to stop to find the best adult beverages.

Rose and Crown Pub

This is a really fun and happening pub that has a lot of personality.  There are great bartenders and a host of solid draft beers and top shelf liquors.

Be aware, though, that this place gets BUSY – I mean punch-me-in-the-face busy.  This is one of the first places to find a drink as you enter world showcase.  If you walk down toward friendship lagoon and hang a right, you’ll pass Canada and then reach Great Britain.  The Rose and Crown Pub is fairly small and often very crowded.  There are a few tables in the space and you can order their famous fish and chips – which is a bonus.

They feature Boddingtons®, Bass®, Guiness®, Harp® – about what you’d expect.  There is also a Strongbow® Cider on tap and of course, Jameson’s® Irish Whiskey.  I often opt for a double with soda to go as I’m leaving.  I find that a whiskey on the rocks is a great way to wash down the previous whiskey on the rocks.

There are also some great scotch flights, ports, wines, and pub blends.  The Golden Imperial (half Bass® and half Harp®) and the the Shandy Imperial (half Sprite®  and half Bass®) are great on super hot days.

If you fancy something more fanciful, try the Cider and Fireball (Irish Whiskey, Fireball, cider, and ginger ale).

Spice Road Table

This location is fairly new in the grand scheme of things.  This table service restaurant opened in 2014 and features some reasonably good food (lamb sliders, anyone?), but more importantly, adds a full service bar to the Morocco Pavilion.

Unlike the previous entry, this bar is just that – a bar.  It is attached to the restaurant, but you have to walk through the bar to get to the seating area.  The bar itself is more just for drinks.  You can walk in past the host station and straight up to the bar and order.  During meal times and peak park days, it can get crowded.  That said, it is still a bit of a hidden gem, so at times you can just walk right up and order – especially early in the day.

They feature standard liquors such as whiskey, bourbon, gin, and vodka, along with an assortment of Mediterranean beers.

Also available are shots of Ouzo  and specialty cocktails such as the Tangier’s Breeze (peach vodka, Midori, and pineapple juice).

La Cava del Tequila

Buried deep inside this pyramid in the Mexico Pavilion is a tequila cave.  Hang a left to head directly here from the walkway to World Showcase Lagoon.  For the most part, this is another hidden gem that doesn’t get too crazy – except for Food and Wine Festival time.  During that period, expect a serious line.

So yes, it is a tequila cave.  It is a little on the dark side with a bar consisting of – you guessed it – tequila.  But if you can get a seat, it is a nice place to cool off and relax a bit.   The location boasts over 200 tequilas along with beer and wine.

They don’t have much of a food menu – mostly tortilla chips, guacamole, and shrimp cocktail.  The queso blanco with pico de gallo and chips is tasty as is the guacamole.

If you are looking for more than just a shot, the blood orange margarita and the jalapeno margarita are a cut above the rest.  Fair warning, the jalapeno model is a little spicy, but complex and refreshing.

Sommerfest

Okay, full disclosure, this location only features a couple of options for libations – but they are winners.  The photo at the top of this article is the best combo to be sure – a classic frank, shot of Barenjager (honey and bourbon), and Shofferhofer Grapefruit beer.

This walk up location in the Germany Pavilion – pictured above inside the right hand entrance – also features pretzels, nudel gratin, strudel, Jagermeister, Riesling, and a few other beer selections.

Seating is limited and is available in the courtyard area pictured above.  This area gets extremely busy during Food and Wine Festival and busy park days.  The window moves long lines fairly quickly and normally the wait isn’t long even on busy days.  Seating is what tends to be the problem, so you may have to move out of this area toward the lagoon to find a place to sit.

So that’s the list – let us know if we missed any of your favorites.

Be sure to enjoy, drink responsibly, and take a delicious beverage by the hand.

Have a magical day!
